Sound in Lazarus ?
« on: April 23, 2005, 12:09:43 am »
Hello,
Does anyone know how to play a sample using Lazarus/FPC ?
I am porting a Delphi app to Linux, but there does not seem to be a Tmediaplayer control in Lazarus.
It seems as if some people have success using the SDL/Jedi combo, but it sounds like a pretty cumbersome way to play a simple wav file.

Problem is, to achieve a truly cross-platform sound, some common lib is required. You can use SDL as you sayed yourself. There is IIRC no other way but to use external libraries. Perhaps in the future someone will make a "mediaplayer" based on some common lib or something.

Yeah there is also OpenAL and a media player :)
The header should work with FPC too :)
