Indy10 is alive, but is doing major rewrites due to Delphi unicode. They have finished these, but the designtime packages don't work anymore, and have to be redone.
Indy core maillist still has several messages a week, most messages are discussion bugfixes to the FTP client (which is extremely compliant and can recognize and adapt to many odd ball servers). The other bit that comes up most are the classes that deal with mime email messages.
Indy11 is currently being discussed, and the current outlook is that it won't be an as radical change as indy9 to 10, but rather more killing some legacy and upgrading all strings to widestrings on older Delphi versions. (so it is always unicode, irrespective of Delphi version).
Afaik all should work on Windows/Linux/FreeBSD/Mac OS X. Indy10 has the largest set of protocols/components, followed (at a distance) by Synapse, and lastly lnet.

Synapse and lnet should work in all 3 platforms. The Mac port of both might be somewhat worse then the Windows and Linux versions due to less people using. I am doing a project which requires lnet in those 3 platforms, so I will be checking if it works in Mac OS X. So far I tested it in Windows and worked perfectly. In the past I have also used Synapse in Windows and Linux and it worked fine.
