Dipends what RDD are you using in Clipper 5
Clipper 5 uses RDD for compliant to varius DBASE dialect.
The best performance in clipper was with FOXPRO dialect using DBF - CDX - FPT
those extension aren't supported by TDBF

From TDBF Home page (http://tdbf.sourceforge.net/) :
- Support for Clipper and Visual FoxPro specific fields.
- Index support available for fast sorting of big tables and search (NDX and MDX files). No support for Clipper and FoxPro indexes yet.

The program I have not written myself. Should I transfer files to DBF to Firebird. The indices used are NTX.

..

I think TDBF resolved.

Try using the ADS, it works very well with DBF files and .NTX/CDX index files.
