Lazarus version for iMac (core 2 duo)
« on: May 06, 2010, 05:47:23 pm »
I am just beginning in the Apple world, so I need some help.  My iMac has a Core 2 duo processor.  Which version of Lazarus should I download?  Also, will downloading Lazarus automatically download FPC, or, if not, which should I download first, if that matters?  Thanks.

1st) install Xcode (it should be available on MacOSX disk). You can also download the latest version from developer.apple.com (make sure you download and install Xcode for your OSX version)

2nd) install FPC and FPC-SRC for Intel 386
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/
fpc-2.2.4.intel-macosx.dmg
fpcsrc-2.2.4-intel-macosx.dmg

3d) install Lazarus for Intel 386
lazarus-0.9.28.2-i386-macosx.dmg

Thanks for your help.

OK.  I downloaded the 3 files and installed them.  However, the folder usr/local/share does not have lazarus in it.  Is there an extra step after the installation (compilation)?  The installations were apparently "successful".  There is an icon of a jaguar (?), which I dragged to the dock, but when I click on it, the icon just bounces and nothing happens.

Lazarus is installed into /Developer/Lazarus directory.
There's also a symlink in /Applications directory.

Where did you drag the cheetah's icon from to the dock?!

---
Try to launch Lazarus from Terminal (it's utility program located at /Application/Utilities). run it, and type in the following commands:
Code: [Select]
/Applications/Lazarus.app/Contents/MacOS/lazarus
press enter.

This should start loading Lazarus. Copy-paste the Terminal output here, so it can be seen what's wrong.
