Does the editor have auto-complete.
« on: November 12, 2009, 01:03:08 am »
Hello,

I am very new to Lazarus. I'm just looking for an alternative to VB (I only do basic programming just for fun). One of the features of VB was the Intellisense which is autocomplete. You start typing something and you get a list of the possible commands, options, etc. depending on the context. It found it very useful, just wanted to know if Lazarus had something like that.

Thanks

OK, I found it, it's Control + Space.

AFAIK there should be somewhere an option to set the delay time for it's displaying. Mostly you don't need Ctrl + Space, it appears after someseconds, but you can adjust that to appear instantly.

Hi cdahmedeh, Lazarus if very powerful more than what you think.

On the menu goto 'Environment' > 'Options' > 'Editor' > 'Key Mapping' > 'CodeTools Commands'.

There you can see many hidden but useful features to be try, like CodeTemplateCompletion, WordComplete, ShowCodeContext.

Lazarus is great!
