Hi, for those who didn't have noticed, yesterday evening I've activated Anubis on the forum.
Since Anubis several times triggered a false positive when I was browsing sites, I initially didn't want to install it.
The last weeks the amount of requests became unmanageable and made the forum unresponsive. Yesterday it was the last straw. I hope the browsing experience on the forum will improve with it.

Thanks, it seems ok.
In the past days, other than cookies screen, I saw sistematically "database error".
That database error had nothing to do with the scraping bots and only affected users with an "full" (most parts with 4 digits)  ipv6 addresses. That is fixed.

Thanks, Marc! So far, it's working fine for me.

Beyond the "504 Gateway Timeout" and cookies screen error, I also got often "database error" message.

The forum can work with or without cookies.

True. And even Anubis seems to be able to do that.... But - according to my tests - you will get an Anubis page on every single link you click, before every single page you view.

Cookies were needed for login but not just viewing the forum in the course of a conversation. Things like hey look at this wiki page or forum thread now get me an error page when i click on them. Things that were once easy annd routine are now impossible. Unless I open a new web browser. Yay what next..

I’m sorry your website is being constantly attacked.
I suggested that you not put all your eggs in one basket…

Also Anubis doesn’t work for me without cookies.

Sarcasm? When, that fate is currently shared by so many across the globe?

I saw anubis yesterday, familiar face.

kudos for that, forums went from slow to crazy fast. anubis also flashes by insanely fast. there are sites where this takes up to 5 seconds, i applaud it.

I think the wiki is protected by Anubis for a long time already  :)

It's better, because "Forum requires cookies" banner no longer blocks access to forum.
Is it healthy for project not to have regular stable releases?
Just for fun: Code::Blocks, GCC 13 and DOS - is it possible?

so far, it's working great.  The forum response time is close to instantaneous, what a nice change from gateway timeouts.

Thank you Marc, well done!

Wow, not a single gateway error in 24 hours.  OK, not continuous, just the occasional look in. But far better the the previous week !

Thanks Marc !

How does Anubis determine if something up is a scraping bot? Can a scraping bot allow cookies “

I was replying to a private message yesterday and when I sent it the Anubis screen came up and there was an error and the message was lost and I had to redo it. Yay!
