International Pascal Congress 2026 (June 22 to 26)
« on: April 27, 2026, 06:07:39 pm »
Dear colleages,

from June 22 to 26, the International Pascal Congress 2026 will be held in Salamanca (Spain). The event is hosted by the University of Salamanca, and the city of Salamanca is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This event will bring together highly recognized international professionals in software development and researchers using the Object Pascal language and the Lazarus tool. This new edition will be dedicated to prof. Niklaus Wirth. The early registration price is only 295 euros for professionals.

Until April 27, we have an agreement with a 4‑star hotel in Salamanca to offer a special price to attendees (After that date, you’ll need to check if there are any rooms available at that hotel; but there are plenty of other hotels). The price is only €360 for six nights with breakfast included (€60 per night). In addition, the agreement allows you to book a double room at a special rate, and even reserve an extra night at a special price if you want to stay and enjoy Salamanca on Saturday.

Attending this event is a unique opportunity for your employees or researchers to receive cutting‑edge training to improve their programming skills and knowledge of new technologies. The event includes various activities focused on professional software development. Among these activities are plenary lectures on topics ranging from supercomputing to encryption, as well as 4‑session courses designed to teach specific topics in professional software development with Lazarus. The courses for Lazaus are the following:

  • Road to Lazarus 5.0: The GTK3 Widgetset on Linux  by  Željan Rikalo
  • Service Oriented Architecture and Object Relation Mapping in Pascal and mORMot by Arnaud Bouchez
  • HMI/SCADA from Scratch with Delphi and Lazarus by  Dr. Eduardo Balvis Outeiriño

Don't miss this unique oportunity to learn and have fun with colleagues who share your passion for Pascal !

This is very interesting, and timings are looking fortuitous.

What is the primary speaking language please?  Agenda implies English.

It is English usually. Some courses can be spanish only, but they're marked so.

It was simply a fantastic conference!
I really enjoyed every moment of it. Arnaud Bouchez's presentations about mORMot 2 were outstanding - they have given me several more months of studying ahead to fully understand how it works! :) Uwe Schächterle's deep dive into CPU performance, register flow, and visualization was absolutely fascinating. Markus Humm's work on the DEC library is equally impressive, and I'm really glad it now supports FPC.
The talks by Cary Jensen, Marco Cantù, Olaf Monien, Bertrand Meyer, Markus Humm, Richard Hatherall, Michael Philippenko, Eduardo Balvis Outeiriño, Javier Cuenca Muñoz, Antonio Zapater, Emilio Pérez, and all the other speakers were inspiring, highly professional, and full of valuable insights. It was a privilege to learn from so many experts from both the Lazarus/FPC and Delphi communities.

Many thanks to the University of Salamanca for hosting such a wonderful event, and a very special thank you to Sergio Miguel Tomé for the enormous amount of work and dedication required to make the International Pascal Congress a reality. Organizing an international conference of this quality is a huge undertaking, and it showed in every detail.

Unfortunately, I couldn't attend Antonio Zapater's talks because they were scheduled at the same time as my own presentations. I hope I'll have the opportunity to attend one of his sessions at a future conference.
It was also a pleasure meeting so many members of the Lazarus, Free Pascal, and Delphi communities in person. I had many interesting discussions, learned a lot, and returned home with plenty of new ideas and motivation.

One last funny memory - I really regret not taking a photo of Uwe Schächterle during his presentation. At one point, while talking about his project, he opened his eyes wide and said, "I could talk about this for days!" :) That moment perfectly captured the passion and enthusiasm that made this conference so special.

Thank you to all the speakers, organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and attendees for making IPC 2026 such a memorable event.

Looking forward to the next International Pascal Congress !
