Lazarus 4.6 on macOS 10.15 Catalina?

(1/1)

hippyqellar573:
Sorry to be so dumb, but does the new Lazarus 4.6 run on macOS 10.15 (Catalina) Intel?
Thanks.

wpostma:
As far as I know lazarus 4.6 is built with fpc 3.2.2 and should work on old mac os like catalina.  On new ones, like tahoe, no, no it doesn't.

mischi:
As said before: Did you try macports?

hippyqellar573:
@mischi - mac ports has only lazarus 4.4, and there's already a binary installer for that which I'm using.

@wpostma - the reason I ask is because the lazarus 4.6 icons have the circle-bar over the icon. Trying to run it brings up a message:

--- Quote ---You can't use this version of the the application "lazarus" with this version of macOS.
You have macOS 10.15.8. The application requires macOS 15 or later.
--- End quote ---

The original release announcement mentions 10.5-10.14 only, which are 32-bit releases, and a 64-bit release for 10.12. No mention of 10.15...  Announcement page here: https://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,73549.0.html

FPC 3.2.4 installed OK and runs OK. It's just Lazarus 4.6 that doesn't like macOS 10.15. (whereas lazarus 4.4 works OK on it).

The SourceForge page (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/Lazarus%20macOS%20x86-64/Lazarus%204.6/) says that Xcode 15 must be installed, but XC 15 does not support macOS 10.15.

I got confused by what is actually supposed to be supported.
