ADUG Symposium 2026
« on: March 14, 2026, 04:45:57 am »
Dear Lazarus Users,

The Australian Delphi User Group is pleased to announce the Autumn Symposium 2026 on the Friday 8th May 2026. As last year we will meet at The Bridge Hotel Mordialloc in 1-4 Nepean Highway, Aspendale VIC 3195.

The topics are
  • Automating Better Code in Delphi by Alister Christie
  • Delphi in the Dairy: Transforming Automation Across Australia and New Zealand by David Chandler
  • Beyond the Chatbot: Embedding Context-Aware AI into Your RAD Studio Applications by Malcolm Groves
  • Pascal in an AI world by Michael Van Canneyt

As a special feature of this year we will have all speakers on-site in Melbourne. This means there is a good chance you can talk to one or all of them in one of the many breaks. This is why you should consider coming in person, even if you attended online in the last few years.

Here is the link to the announcement page for the symposium with the link to register.

Dear Lazarus Users,

Today we want to introduce you to our speaker Alister Christie. Many of you will know Alister from Learn Delphi TV. He has presented at our symposia several times. Last time in 2022 (see also here). Alister is the author of many Delphi books, Code Better in Delphi and Code Faster in Delphi to name just two.

This year Alister will present on Automating Better Code in Delphi.

About his topic he wrote:
Writing new code is only part of the job ? maintaining and improving what you already have is where many projects live or die. In this session, we'll explore the wealth of automated tools available to Delphi developers that can help you write cleaner, safer, and more maintainable code without requiring a complete rewrite.
We'll cover the full spectrum: from code formatters that enforce consistent style, to static analysis tools that catch bugs and bad practices before they reach production, to unit testing that gives you confidence when making changes. We'll also look at how AI coding assistants are changing the way we work with legacy code, how source control underpins everything, and how metrics like code toxicity can help you identify where your codebase needs the most attention.
Whether you're working on a decades-old application or a greenfield project, these tools are available to you today ? and many of them are free. Come along and discover how a few additions to your development workflow can make a significant difference to the quality of your code.
