GridPrinter requirements on Linux
« on: February 07, 2026, 10:53:22 pm »
I downloaded the gridprinter package from the CCR.  When I went to install it, I got a message about a package for cairo also needs to be installed.  This didn't matter if I was running the IDE using gtk2 or QT6.  This leads me to believe the package has a gtk2 requirement.  If that is the case, I'm curious to know why the LCL wasn't just used and a specific requirement for gtk2 is needed.  Or am I misunderstanding the need for the cairo package?

Thanks

Being a printing support package, GridPrinter uses the Printers units from the Printer4Lazarus package which, in turn, depends on the cairocanvas package. Having no idea about the inner details of cairo (except for "graphics library for multiple output devices") I can only say that at least on Windows there are no issues although the cairo lib is not available by default.

Thanks for the reply.  I'll have to look further into it.  Thought it was gridprinter asking for it, but if it is printer4lazarus I'll have to look at that package.
