IDE areas changing size
« on: January 24, 2026, 09:52:11 am »
Gentlefolk,

Environment:
Linux Mint Zena 22.3. Lazarus 4.4.
Basic install using the 'old' style IDE (multiple 'panels' for object, messages, etc).

Problem:
Occasionally I drag the mouse/cursor across the Laz IDE screen and...

The size of the 'window/panel/whatever' containing the:
'Control' choices such as 'new, new form, open, etc and the 'Laz object' choices such as Standard, Additional, Common, etc changes.

Instead of just enclosing the object areas the size of the window/panel/whatever for the 'Control objects' and the 'Standard, Additional, Common, etc' the 'window/panel/whatever' increases in size to the bottom of the screen.

After this the IDE runs slowly and only one of the object, messages, source views display at one time......

How can I re-set the 'window/panel/whatever' to the original size????

Any suggestions appreciated, Ian.

Gentlefolk,

I believe I have found a way of address this problem.

1. In the IDE select Tools>Options>
2. In the OPTIONS menue select Windows.
3, Turn the 'Automatically adjust IDE main window height' to ON.
4. Restart the IDE.

IDE display is now working nicely........

Ian.

For that option for exists, there must be known issue, like yours. :o

I checked mine on windows and it is already checked, must be a default because I never set that.

I guess that window could be setup to limit its expansion.
