IDE Colors compiled with GTK vs IDE Colors compiled with QT
« on: December 08, 2025, 05:05:13 pm »
I am using Debian 13 with the KDE desktop and I installed Lazarus using FPCUPDeluxe. When I compile the IDE with QT the colors of the IDE match the theme set in the in the global theme. When I compile the IDE with GTK the colors of the IDE use only a black background. Some of the foreground colors are invisible or unreadable with this black background. I would prefer to use the GTK framework but this is not possible with this black background. I should mention that I'm new to FP-Lazarus development and, to a lesser extent, Debian, so this may be my main problem. I've tried changing the settings in ~/.gtk2 and I've tried to identify where Lazarus stores this configuration. I searched everywhere and I've asked a few AI's about it. At first query, most of the advice, I was given was about changing the editor colors and not the IDE colors. I improved my queries but still I can't get a good answer. I am not having any problems with GTK or QT setting the editor colors! Once long ago a very talented programmer told me, safe-silver, was the best starting option. In my limited coding career I found that to be the best advice and still prefer it to this day! I tried all weekend to run this down so you are my last hope!

Thanks, that helped. There are still a few things that are difficult to see. I did a few other things like change the grid colors because a black grid on a black background is difficult, at least for me, to see!
