If you can't find today any job offer or position in any company on the world as a Pascal programmer as used to be, it is dead language by default.
I understand your point, but for me, a dead language is one that no one uses. So I don't think this is the case. Work is fine, but where do you put the fun?

Just see bug trackers here and who developers here are, all is on amateur's level.
This is very sad, many people put their free time into this.

But I will not waste my time to explain obvious here on this thread nor forum. You can clam as is please too you not looking at facts.
The facts I see are a RAD very similar to Delphi but without its purchase cost. While my heart tells me I'd like to use it forever.

Sorry, a bit off topic but I felt obligated to respond.
Comunque, tornando in tema, saluti dall'Italia

The stuff written in Java is basically throw away code.  It is written in Java because it wasn't worth the effort and financial investment to write it in a compiled language (C, C++, Pascal or other.)

What parallel universe are you from? Just because you personally don't like non-natively-compiled languages doesn't mean that all such code is trash.

Pascal won't die as long as there are people using it. That being said, seeing that most users on this forum appear to be retirees, I'm not exactly instilled with confidence about Pascal's future.

Just because you personally don't like non-natively-compiled languages doesn't mean that all such code is trash.
Every Java program I've used has exhibited significant deficiencies, the most common one being they are "clunky" (not very responsive unless you run them on one of today's fastest machines and, even then... they are barely tolerable.)

Very often the design and operation is poor.  They really feel like throw away code (which is what they are by their very design.)

To this day, I have never seen a Java program I would say was genuinely pleasant to use.   That's a long ways from the countless compiled programs that, in addition to being functionally impressive, are pleasant to use.

I stand by what I said, programs are written in Java or Python simply because they aren't worth the time and effort to do them right.  Chef Boyardee Haute-software development.
FPC v3.2.2 and Lazarus v4.0rc3 on Windows 7 SP1 64bit.

Despite being a n=1 example, my whole company runs on FPC/Lazarus code. From embedded to database to machine-control.
Nobody has been retired [yet].

Etc. Pascal is dead long time ago and only some remains from prehistoric may use it to produce fast some utilities, if Delphi was their main RAD back in the past... ;)

The talk from Ian from Embarcadero at the Pascal Conference showed that Object Pascal is used surprisingly often and from companies where you don't expect it of. So I'm definitely more optimistic regarding Object Pascal usage since then.

would be nice to know the gender as well.

And then that list would probably miss quite some options as well 😅

Please tell me what country you are from :)

Argentina, not in the list yet, by the way. There are at least two other forum members that I know of from around here.

Cheers,

Daniel

Hi!
If you are not logged in, you only see a list of country names.
After logging in, you can select your country in the poll and cast your vote. Afterwards, the current result is displayed, but in an unsorted order.

Therefore, here is the interim result as of December 19, 2025, at 4:00 UTC, sorted by number of votes (without those who posted their country in the comments).

Germany           11 (15.9%)
USA               8 (11.6%)
Italy             7 (10.1%)
Spain             7 (10.1%)
The Netherlands   6 (8.7%)
Russia            5 (7.2%)
Australia         4 (5.8%)
Croatia           3 (4.3%)
Poland            2 (2.9%)
France            2 (2.9%)
Belgium           2 (2.9%)
Indonesia         1 (1.4%)
Finland           1 (1.4%)
Denmark           1 (1.4%)
Austria           1 (1.4%)
Algeria           1 (1.4%)
Bulgaria          1 (1.4%)
China             1 (1.4%)
Hungary           1 (1.4%)
Kazakhstan        1 (1.4%)
Canada            1 (1.4%)
South Korea       1 (1.4%)

It’s a shame that so many countries were excluded from the poll. Perhaps try again with all countries included. Then the poll will be meaningful

Or add an option "Other"
One System to rule them all, One Code to find them,
One IDE to bring them all, and to the Framework bind them,

People report excluded countries and then I add them. If you like you can create a new post with a poll with over 200 options.
