I don't mind if OP wasn't interested to read the replies. It is not totally wasted. Someone in the future may land on this thread and learn something. At least this discussion lead to the suggestion the feature to autocorrect mispositition form when opening it.

It is quite impossible that I deleted anything by accident.
I have programmed quite a few projects in Delphi, this never happened.
Yes, I have backup, but unfortunately it is old.

Thanks for the feedback.
I did not leave the room, I am not sitting at the computer all the time.

If you see all of your forms at design time then its there.

Something you may be doing at startup is stalling the program to get passed a point of display or you have your forms left and top positioned off screen.

Maybe you can show us the directory dump of the project, a screen shot is fine.

Or even more: Zip the entire project folder and upload the zip to some cloud. Post here link to the upload (or send me a PM with the link if you do not want to publish the project).

I have debugged, and Form.Create is called, but it never gets there.

....

Now I have messed around and the form shows then exits right away.

Nevermind guys, I think I can figure this out now by debugging.

As a Message from Tech support:

The common and most revealed answer for any problem, cause most of the time they haven't a clue is!

 #1
Did you install of current updates.

 #2
Did you stall all available updates for drivers

 #3
If 1 and 2 fails, Unplug your computer and go to bed, rest always fixes everything!

Hi All
I am a newby to Lazarus and learning so please be gentle. I used to use Delphi up to ver 5 Enterprise.
Love the whole ethos of Lazarus and very greatfull.
I have the latest version of Lazarus but had an issue with a learning project I had created so no real loss but glad it was not a big project.
I normally do regular archiving of key work I do but more interested in preventing losing a night's work.
I was using SQLite components and playing with altering parameters and at the last run I had managed to corrupt the build.
It was then that I learned the hard way that Lazarus auto saves the files so corrupted version was saved.
I then used the backup folder that is automatically created and the backup would not run but had unable to read file error.
Any insight into this for learning opportunity. I dont need to mend my files.
Thankyou for any comments.
