We are happy about a new Pascal book, maybe sanric can update the cover.

So a member writes a book about Pascal and instead of congrats, we're complaining about the cover? Really?

What about you wrote a book about "Ferrari" and you put a "Porsche" on the cover ?

Nobody would notice, but felines are a different matter.

Hello there, I'd like to share the news with you that my latest book on Object Pascal is finally on sale on Amazon.com. :D

It's not the usual manual about a programming language rather than a path that guides the reader from the fundamentals of programming up to the MVC model and OOP.
It's written in a very simple way, far from being academic and suitable for programming classes and newbies.
Moreover is totally centered around FPC and Lazarus!
Give it a try and tell me what you think about!

Here in Canada it says Out of Print--Limited Availability. Screenshot attached.

He didn't write a book about Pascal and put "C++" on the cover. You guys need to find something of substance to comment about.

I still confirm that a new book on Pascal is a good thing. And also highlight that even here is out of print.

Yes, it is what we did at work. Every day if one did a mistake, it was discussed costuctively all thogheter, to learn and avoid it in the future. That is exactly the right way to grow up professionally. I am here in this forum to learn Pascal and even to receive comments about my mistake on coding (and I did a lot for sure). And if you find a post of mine, feel free to point out any mistakes I did, such comments are welcome.

Do you want me to shift the conversation to your spelling mistakes and go on and on about them or overlook them and concentrate on the meaning of your response?

Ignoring your "mistakes", let's move on as they are UNIMPORTANT to the discussion, but ironic.

That's good and a good courteous response.

I was an accountant for 34 years. In accounting there is a concept called materialism. Basically It means if you're reconciling an account that has a balance of thousands of dollars and it is off by $10, don't bother looking for the difference. It means don't "nick pick." It also means to ignore spelling mistakes when they don't effect the conversation.

It could also mean to ignore what type of animal is on a cover of a book and to discuss the book itself.

I love programming.

Thanks to underline my mistakes (caused by both typing errors and not being English mother tongue), it is appreciated.

I agree with you, I will wait for the book.

PS: I think you took the content of my post in the wrong way: Maybe the writer did not see that cheetah is the logo of LAZ-FPC, and that a book cover about LAZ-fpc with cheetah is more consistent that a cover with a leopard. I hope this is not considered offensive.. at least is not my intent, so my excuse to the OP if it was the case.

.. and more important, as you said, I leave the topic to be better focused on the content of the book.

Regards.

(I don't check how many typing errors, as usual,  I did... :))

Hi everybody and thanks for all the comments.

I didn't answer you before because Amazon rejected both the versions of the book after having printed and sold them: I won't go into details but believe me it was a nightmare!
The book is now available for sale at https://a.co/d/9aeHGBP.

I know the feline is not a cheetah but I find it rather unimportant: the thing that matter is IMHO to put a spot on this language, on the compiler and the IDE, on the capabilty that they give the user to create something good with no efforts and in a totally free way.
And, moreover, I wanted to make newcomers in programming know that there is still good old "dinosaur" that's easy to read and code.

Maybe, for the next edition, a blue dinosaur for the cover?  :D

I’ve just ordered a copy from Amazon UK. I’ve used Delphi from version 2 to 11 when I was working with it (1997-2020) so I’m quite familiar with Object Pascal, but may have forgotten a fair bit.

I’ve just got into Lazarus/FPC/Castle Engine, which is a change from many years of three tier banking apps.

I’m thoroughly looking forward to receiving my copy, and will review it on Amazon.

Just placed my order!!!
When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, This you may not read, this you
must not see, this you are forbidden to know, the end result is tyranny and oppression no matter how holy the motives.
