Need to install Richmemo for Lazarus 4.2
« on: October 11, 2025, 02:23:47 am »
I am using Windows 11 64-bit and need to install Richmemo for Lazarus 4.2. (default not found)

I have been trying for many days but everything has failed. If I manage to install it, I cannot open the Lazarus application. (must restore to original app)
Package > not found Online Package Manager  and no found Richmemo

I have tried the packages, but none of them work:
https://github.com/vrybant/richdemo
https://github.com/skalogryz/richmemo/archive/refs/heads/master.zip

Currently, I am using TMemo, which is very limited.

Tks everybody!

Hmm, I think you should be using the skalogryz one but Dmitry does not seem to have been active for a few years. Indeed, he does seem to have been here for a couple of years.

Just to clarify, you down load the zip file, unzip it, then from within lazarus you go to Packages, Open Package, find the package file where you unzipped it and allow Lazarus to compile it and rebuild itself ? And then restart automatically ?

Specifically, at which point does it fail ? I am guessing during the restart ?

I don't use windows myself but could try and bring it up here, likely I'll see the same problem.

As an aside, hove you considered KMemo ?  Its a bit more cross platform and still, to some degree, managed. I use it in my app, different from RichMemo but you get use to it.

I just installed RichMemo into Laz 4.2 (64bit) on Windows 11 from the Online-Package-Manager. No problem found, installation done correctly, tested some sample projects which were found to run fine.

What do you want to say with this cryptic "Package > not found Online Package Manager  and no found Richmemo"? That there is no "Online Package Manger" entry in the "Package" menu? In this case, you somehow manage to unstall OPM - reinstall it by going to "Package" > "Install/Uninstall packages". If you do not "OnlinePackageManager" in the left list, select it in the right list, click installation, then "Rebuild IDE".
