Please help! I'm stuck!

Lazarus is failing to start and throwing this:

Overlapping controls found
:SourceNotebook,AnchorsDockSite5.
Press Ok to ignore and risk data corruption
Press Abort to kill the program

Can you run it from terminal, and show the stack trace?

 Thanks for the suggestion. I did run it from the command prompt, but if a stack dump was generated, it wasn't printed on the command line.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Lazarus and found out that the problem occurs when attempting to switch between an editing and debugging desktop in docked mode. The error message I get now is a slight variation on the one I posted earlier:

overlapping controls found
:SourceNotebook,AnchorDockSite12.

It appears that Lazarus is struggling with the desktop configuration.

What is your OS and maybe Lazarus version?
If Windows, did you select to delete the previous configuration during installation? If you did not - try to reinstall with removing the old config, or just delete the configuration files (or rename them, so you could use them later, if necessary). Indeed, if you ask me where and which the config files are - I do not know.

Then simply delete this desktop via "Menu > Tools > Desktops" (or "Menu > Window > Desktops" in the new version).

In the worst case, you can delete all desktops manually. Make sure to make a backup! And edit IDE files only when it is closed.


In general, is this a configuration from the old IDE or a clean one? What OS and how was Lazarus installed?
