Command line parameter processing

I've had big problems with command line parameter processing.
In a forum conversation about the problems I was having, someone said this was being worked on, or there were plans to work on it.
If there are plans to fix/improve this, I would be interested in helping with development/coding.

There have been some fixes in trunk, but they are relative detail. What is exactly your problem?
