Recover deleted files using Lazarus
« on: July 18, 2025, 06:28:17 am »
Hello everyone,
I'm developing an application using Lazarus / Free Pascal, and I’d like to implement a tool to recover deleted or lost files, even after formatting (like FAT32 or NTFS).
I've searched a lot and found references to a project called FileRecovery made in Lazarus, but I couldn’t find the source code or any download link.
Does anyone have a working example, a basic idea, or know of a similar project built with Lazarus (or adaptable to it)?
Any help, suggestion, or lead will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I have several times success helping my clients recover data from bad hard drive using Recuva free edition. But recently I have better luck using QPhotoRec (TestDisk). I'm not very sure but as far as I know PhotoRec/TestDisk is open source.

Are you sure that you do not mean Lazarus Data Recovery?
Lazarus is a mythical character who was recovered from the dead (or he was not able to walk, not sure). This does not mean that Lazarus Data Recovery is related to Lazarus IDE, maybe rather with bringing data back to life.
Лазар 4,4 32 bit (sometimes 64 bit); FPC3,2,2

Hi friends, yes indeed, I'm looking forward to creating a program similar to Photorec, EasyRecovery, and RecoverMyFiles. It should be visual.
If anyone has an example, I'd appreciate it.
