Sources of VU Pascal compilers, Pascal P3
« on: June 11, 2025, 06:52:17 pm »
Thanks to a tip by Stefano B., who found tape dumps of university archives I have added:

Compilers developed at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam

– Pascal-U, 1977 derivate of the portable Pascal P2
– Pascal-VU, the ISO standard Pascal compiler 1979
– the Amsterdam Compiler Kit

I also added some personal information about my time at the VU

Stefano also traced the Pascal P3 compiler, 1976, missing link between Pascal P2 and P4 Portable compilers from ETH

Some variants of Pascal-S are also found.

I thought everybody knew this:
https://www.standardpascal.org/p5.html
It is also maintained by a - sometimes visiting - forum member and "the cause of" the reason FPK put in some effort to get the ISO standards correct.
(already about 8 years ago)
Scott Franco wrote much of the compilers.....or was involved.
There is no hidden info. No need to search.

True Pascal lovers have all that info already.

But still a nice pointer, Hans.

Due to censorship, I changed this to "Nelly the Elephant". Keeps the message clear.

@hansotten

You really made a great website and, somehow you manage to make it better steadily.

Well done!
(FPC v3.0.4 and Lazarus 1.8.2) or (FPC v3.2.2 and Lazarus v4.0rc3) on Windows 7 SP1 64bit.
