IBX installing - packages missing
« on: June 10, 2025, 10:48:10 pm »
(
you can jump over these lines, if you did not follow with other threads about.
Recently I had installing troubles not just with Lazarus 4, but with "all":
The problem is rather nasty. It was an update to VMWorkstation 17, which cuts deeply into my Win10 system. Suddenly - if this is the problem at all - it interacts with virtuality software of Win 10 for Linux. VMWare 16 had no problems. And it grabbed some of my keys. E.g. the windows key and the scrolling wheel of my mouse. In the meanwhile I reinstalled the graphic driver, updated my Windows, changed the Win-installation features...  Not solved yet. My installation files for Linux seemed to be damaged transferred and the strange error messages were not due to my poor Linux abilities, but to files, which were damage every transfer to the VM again
)

about installing IBX, this shall be to solve easily, if you know how:
Two Packages are missing (see screenshot): Where do I get them from and how to install?

Firebird 5 shall be installed already.

Thank you, this was easy.

Unfortunately my project greats me by "IBX is unable to locate or otherwise load the Firebird Library - have you remembered to install it?".

 :o :( 8) %)

You know what "Der Ochs vorm neuen Stall" means.

I don't know if you already abandoned this or not.

But if not, I suggest you to avoid IBX 2.7 for a while.

There is problem with this one, i have thread on general section, discussed it.

Btw where do you got ver 2.7.4? As I remembered, OPM version is 2.7.2.

If you want to continue with IBX installation, you could see its github when click + sign in OPM, there you will find ibcontrol and fbintf packages.

I already mentioned in the other topic... You need to create your DB with a CHARACTER SET other than NONE. Then you don't have to that problem.

I am not sure what I have installed at the moment. I clicked somewhere and something installed and I even did not click at IBX. My queries run. I do not know why and do not ask any questions.

This is my IBX in Lazarus 4 under Win 7, which works.

The Linux path is left at the moment.

But about code set, there is something special. It is long ago and I think it was FlameRobin any version. I was not able to set a codeset. I remember, that I tried hard to use UTF8 and every time I set it, - I read "none". I think, the codeset is none still. Not because I wanted it, but because anything hindered me to set it to UTF8 and jumped to none every time again. I think, this was Flamerobin but am not quite sure, who caused this. It was a base information of the database I was not able to fix. I was not even able to do it, as I made my database new from scratch. Perhaps you remember my messed indices that time.

So from my part: It works and I am so happy about, that I do not ask why.

add:
it is about the other thread, right?
I have Win 7, 64 bit and upgraded from Lazarus 3.0
The upgrade form Lazarus 2 to 3 was quite hard. The upgrade to 4 seems better than even expected. I whisper it, not to change this.
