Power failure. Startup error.
« on: May 02, 2025, 12:30:12 pm »
Hi All

I had a power failure right when I compiled a program.
Now nothing starts. Pressing OK to risk data corruption has no effect, and abort, well aborts the process.
Please look as the included capture image.

How do i recover from this?

-Regards, Peter

Hi
It mentions the offending file, have a look at that and maybe remove it...
...In your explorer -> editor / hex-editor ?!?
Regards Benny
If it ain't broke, don't fix it ;)

chkdsk? Or any good recovery program. Lazarus/FPC can't do that.
With the provision that you can of course write a recovery program in fpc...
objects are fine constructs. You can even initialize them with constructors.

That is the option file for IDE-global debugger related settings. It apparently got corrupted.

It is (or was) an xml file. You can try to salvage it.

If not, delete it.
Then go to
Menu: Tools > Options > Debugger > Backend
and make sure "FpDebug" is set as your debugger.

If you had additional backends configured (or other settings changed in the "Tools > Options > Debugger" section) then you would need to redo this too.

Check the folder, there may be a recent backup file of this.

Nearly had a heart attack there.
Turned out the XML file was empty or there was a character in there i could not see.
I just deleted it, and everything is back.

Thanks everyone.
