ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1000:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave

ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1000:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
aplay: main:834: audio open error: No such file or directory

I have tried to simply play wav file with aplay procedure, but that do not exists in the current system installation. But still, compilation was allowed. According to upper error, it should not allow compilation or I missing something?
