No, but...

... I am familiar with that very nice extortion company. They have your IP blacklisted. For whatever reason they see fit. No point arguing with them either. Try to renew your IP if possible. If that ain't possible contact your provider and complain about both issues.

Thanks Tron.

Looks like its PlusNet p|ssing about. They have requested the Ip address to be blacklisted,
but its the address they gave me!  Rebooting the router gives me another IP (allocated dynamic)
but they all seem to be blacklisted.  Strange though, my emails are generally getting through,
its only ones sent to the Pascal List are getting rejected.   From Spamhaus I get

Outbound Email policy of Plusnet Plc for this IP range
It is the policy of Plusnet Plc that unauthenticated email sent from this IP address should be sent out only via the designated outbound mail server allocated to Plusnet Plc customers. To find the hostname of the correct mail server to use, customers should consult the original signup documentation or contact Plusnet Plc Technical Support.

There are others reporting this issue on PlusNet forum. I'll pursue it there.
(I've not changed any of my email settings, but Thunderbird seems to be a common factor)

Do I understand it well, that you are sending the mail by way of your ISP mailserver ? If that is the case, their mailserver is listed in the PBL. This list shouldn't contain IPS mailservers. In that case your IPS should contact SpamHaus for removal of the PBL (they usually do that without problem)
If you are running your own server from your own IP you may request too or you can configure your server to use the ISP one as smarthost.
I've been doing the first in the past many times, but now most IPv4 mail are sent by way of my ISP

Hi Mark,

I am using my ISP (PlusNet) for email, and had no problem posting to the mailing list up to Feb 21st.
But from Feb 26th onwards, all attempts to post have failed. But my problem seems confined to
fpc-pascal@lists.freepascal.org.  I'm not having trouble sending email anywhere else.

I've raised the issue with PlusNet tech support.  My IP address is issued dynamically when I start the router.
Checking all the recently allocated address, and they are all on the PBL. But there was no problem up to Feb 21st.

Is anyone aware of any relationship between the FPC mailing list provider and SpamHaus?  Or was there any change to the mailing list set up between Feb 21st & 26th?

Cheers,
Peter

PlusNet (unsurprisingly) are saying that as I am only having trouble with the FPC mailing list,
the problem lies at this end. So I'm getting nowhere near to a solution.

ISTM the key question, is what changed between Feb 21st & Feb 26th?

Hi,
When you are using your ISP mailer, your own IP is not relevant. It's the IP of your ISP which is on the PBL list.
Which is a bit strange. According to whois about the sending IP:

inetnum:         146.66.32.0 - 146.66.47.255
netname:         PLUSNET-DIAL-ADSL
descr:           Dial-up and ADSL pool
descr:           Plusnet plc
country:         GB

Are you sure you have configured your ISP mail server as outgoing server ?

According to their website you should have configured relay.plus.net as outgoing server.

host relay.plus.net
relay.plus.net has address 212.159.9.107
relay.plus.net has address 212.159.8.107

Hi Marc,

My outgoing server has always been relay.plus.net and I have not changed anything between Feb 21st & 26th.

However, there seem to be many IP addresses invloved,
and I gather one of PlusNet's servers 84.93.230.227 is blocked by adonmails.de
https://www.dnsbl.info/dnsbl-database-check.php

Does anyon know what servers FPC uses for its emaillist, and spam filter?

Regards,
Peter

I'm not involved in the FPC mail server, neither the SPAM filter used
(My own server was also blocked by the fpc server, so my server now sends all fpc mail through my ISP)

PS. I sent you a PM

Weird,
the message you sent me was sent by 212.159.14.20 which is part of "Plusnet Portal Servers" (what makes sense)

So no idea why your FPC message got routed different. Maybe some server outage at PlusNet and mail got routed different (and got blocked)
You could retry your message

Hi Mark,

it seems the server IP addresses change periodically, or else there are multiple servers.
I tried again this morning and 84.93.230.235 was used, but that is also blocked by adonmails.de,
but not by SpamHaus. But I consistently get blocked by SpamHaus.

If I click the link provided by SapmHaus, I now get the following;

Quote
  ....
Why has my email not been delivered?

The problem is with the recipient’s email server configuration.
This is not due to an issue with your email set-up.
It is not because you are listed on one of our blocklists.

Re:

The problem is with the recipient’s email server configuration.

If that were really the case, others would be having problems too.
It seems I am the only one using the mailing list via Plusnet email.
There is definately a fault at the Plusnet end, which is being investigated.

Peter

Plusnet have fixed a problem at their end. (Email server on some block lists),
but I still cannot post to the list. The remaining issue (with the mailing list) is this one.

The problem with our mailing list has been fixed.
All posts were blocked for a while, but seems OK now.

Cheers,
Peter :)
