Lazarus/FPC Flatpak applications on Flathub
« on: January 15, 2025, 09:56:54 pm »
There are several applications developed with Lazarus/FPC published as Flatpaks on Flathub:

Acronym Decoder - https://flathub.org/apps/manage/net.zdechov.app.AcronymDecoder
C-evo: New Horizons - https://flathub.org/apps/net.zdechov.app.C-evo
Cantara - https://flathub.org/apps/app.cantara.Cantara
CudaText - https://flathub.org/apps/io.github.cudatext.CudaText-Qt
Hedgewars - https://flathub.org/apps/org.hedgewars.Hedgewars
LazFuck - https://flathub.org/apps/net.zdechov.app.LazFuck
LazPaint - https://flathub.org/apps/io.github.bgrabitmap.LazPaint
PeaZip - https://flathub.org/apps/io.github.peazip.PeaZip
vCard Studio - https://flathub.org/apps/net.zdechov.app.vCardStudio
TransLines - https://flathub.org/apps/net.zdechov.app.TransLines
Tunneler - https://flathub.org/apps/net.zdechov.app.Tunneler
UltraStar Deluxe - https://flathub.org/apps/eu.usdx.UltraStarDeluxe
xTactics - https://flathub.org/apps/net.zdechov.app.xTactics

See the wiki page https://wiki.freepascal.org/Flatpak how to package a new app as Flatpak. Preferably as Qt5 application rather than Gtk2. But Gtk2 as "legacy windowing system" is also supported.
Usually Flatpaks on Flathub are built as both x86_64 and aarch64. So it is possible to install them on ARM Linux systems where Flatpak is supported.
For example on smartphone Linux OS PostmarketOS https://postmarketos.org/ where Flatpak apps are enabled by default. It is really interesting to run and optimize own apps on touch device with small screen and high DPI (like 300%). Although Linux on phones is not ready for normal daily use, it is nice that we can run our Lazarus/FPC apps on phones. As Android is still not supported by Lazarus and probably won't be in future.

Anyway, I will try to add more such apps to Flathub. There are some good apps written in Pascal and it would be nice to have them available on Flathub and all Linux distributions where Flatpak/Flathub is enabled.
