Wow, thats a bit confronting, given its history.

But it does seem that they have purchased MariaDB Corporation. That is the entity that is publicly listed. Its a funder of MariaDB development and makes its money delivering commercial support, and, maybe cloud services ?

The MariaDB Foundation (where the development is done) is a different entity. At the moment.

I believe you !

I just think its funny (?) that these people left mysql because they did not like the feel of Oracle and now at least some strings will be pulled by a bunch of accountants who's only commitment to the industry relates to how quickly it will turn a buck. I think they will make Larry Ellison look very good !

Its a sad outcome.
