Is it just me or is this forum really so slow, bordering useless again?!?

It's been fine for me yesterday and today...

Currently, it is fine now. But an hour ago, it took about 20 seconds to load a page.

You misunderstood it. The date "August 02, 2021" is for the most online ever: 2081.

Yeah.... that day some botnet was hammering the server....

The past couple of days the forum has been quite slow for me.  Sometimes it takes 10 to 15 seconds before a page loads.

Has anyone else been having a similar experience ?
(FPC v3.0.4 and Lazarus 1.8.2) or (FPC v3.2.2 and Lazarus v3.2) on Windows 7 SP1 64bit.

Yes, the past two days it was slow. It's almost never slow with me. Not even when I sometimes see posts about slowness here.
Right now it seems fine.

Yesterday afternoon it was simply unbearable.

Hi
@Marc: Right now, the forum has crawled to a halt! Could you please exert your skilled 'Voodoo' on/to the forum, once again  8)
I've timed out 3 times, just to write this...  %)

This post is roughly 3 hours after my last one and right now the forum feels very snappy.

I don't know what caused the improvement but, there is, at least at this time, a very noticeable improvement.
(FPC v3.0.4 and Lazarus 1.8.2) or (FPC v3.2.2 and Lazarus v3.2) on Windows 7 SP1 64bit.

I don’t know if this is related but I noticed awhile back that I can no longer stay logged into the forum. I have to log in every time I come here now.

Also when I logged in just now yes it was slow to connect. Maybe 30 seconds or so.

What is making forums slow ?

Hi
The last time it was because of 'bots' were /hammering/ on the door, maybe this time too...?
Maybe, just maybe, pascal is so interesting, that /everybody/ and their dog, wants to know about it...  :D
Marc usually gets this in check 'RutziFutzi' and we can carry on...

I'm pretty sure that this is related to your browser, not the forum. Maybe you disabled cookies?

That’s possible that it’s related to browser but I don’t remember disabling cookies. At one point I would only stay logged into forum if I kept browser on  tab with forums . It’s also possible that what is being viewed effects staying logged in. Maybe reading messages has different behavior than browsing main forum.

Who knows. I just read a "news" article that Delphi/Objectpascal is gaining popularity. It's a bit like a we have nothing better to report in the summer article  but still nice to read that Pascal does well. Be aware it is in Dutch.

So why is the forum slow and what can be done about it?
