That attitude is not helpful, when a customer of yours complains about the application's poor user interface, he (rightfully) won't be interested in your excuses and won't accept blaming the os creators for their bad choices.

Zoran, while I have to agree with you in principle, the fact remains that Gnome (its Gnome, not specifically Ubuntu) make changes that comply with their idea of an "uncluttered" interface with little or no regard for how well it works for end users.
I frequently find myself telling my users that the Desktop (ie Gnome) and the colour theme they are using (usually the default) is the underlying cause of their problem.
Occasionally I hear back from such people who have moved to Mate, Cinnamon, XFCe etc and are thrilled with the result. The trouble is, Gnome is at an extreme end of the style spectrum and as such is a bad introduction to new Linux users.
