LazPaint: Too many shapes in layer

What can I do when I get “Too many shapes in layer”?
Is there another solution besides Save and Reload?

Hello CM630,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. When you encounter this message, a practical workaround is to create a new layer. You can then move existing objects from a layer by utilizing a multiselection technique with Ctrl-Click. After selecting the desired objects, they can be moved to the new layer through Cut and Paste operations.

I acknowledge that the current limitation on the number of shapes per layer is restrictive. This limit aims at maintaining smooth layer manipulation while preventing the program from becoming overly laggy.

I am considering an increase to this limit to enhance user experience. This could also be configurable. Implementing a configurable limit could provide users with greater flexibility and control, allowing them to tailor the application's performance to their specific needs and hardware capabilities.

I had no idea, that I could edit shapes, after placing then, now I found the Edit Shape tool.
Maybe it would be nice if there was a shape selector - a list of the shapes, so I could select them from there (selecting by the Edit Shape tool occurred to be tricky sometimes). I did not find such a panel in Menu — View, maybe it exists somewhere else?

Dear CM630,

I'm glad to hear that you've discovered the Edit Shape tool! It's always rewarding to uncover features that enhance your creative process.

Your idea of a shape selector (a list from which shapes can be selected) is certainly worth exploring. Currently, such a feature does not exist within the software.

Selecting shapes directly with the Edit Shape tool can indeed be tricky at times, especially in complex projects with numerous shapes. This is certainly an area where we can improve the user experience.
