IDE windows floating

Hello,

I heard a lot about Lazarus and wanted to give it a try since it picked my interest. I installed it on Windows and when I start it up, I have floating windows all over instead of a single unified window like all programs, is this how it looks normally out of the box? (even the top menu/toolbar is a separate floating window wth...)

I want to get on with stuff using it but the look of it just infuriates me and I can't take it seriously.

I appreciate any help on how to turn this horrid layout off.

Install the anchordocking/anchordockdesign (not sure about the correct name) package.

Mainly for historical reasons. The floating windows was introduced in delphi1(see attached screenshot).
It looks strange at first, but the layout has some advantages. For example you can edit two large forms in parallel,  especially if you have two monitors.

PS: You can also install package dockedformeditor.lpk to get a more modern interface. If you search the forum some dark themes are also available.

Well, it was the default to start with.
And personally I just like it that way.
