Touchscreen selecting rectangle.

As I'm new to Forums in general so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong place.
I have a RasPad with a 10" display and everything is working correctly.
The slight problem I have is that when I drag my finger on the screen I get a selection rectangle. Is there a way to stop this happening.
