i voted for cheetah becouse im using pardus linux and pardus linux's symbol is "anatolian tiger" it is likely it ;)

I personally like the blue one. It looks good and I think it would go well with the windows vista tool bar. I agree with everyone else the tiger one with its 'tongue sticking out' looks a bit childish.

A bit of a visual upgrade for the trusty IDE wouldn't hurt inject some new life into exposure of the tool. It would help to show that you can do pretty much the same with Lazarus that you can with other RAD tools like Delphi and Visual Studios.

Besides how else would you celibate winning the SourceForge.net CCA category for development tools. ;)

I like the idea of having a selection of icons for Lazarus, but pick one for the default.

dunno, i just taught Pascal on Apple IIes to youngsters in the early 80s, before I signed back on to corporate america and started other crap.  i like cats.

Icons should be the simplest possible Graphically.
Look at all the other icons, on the example taskbar.

Thus, the 'picture'  cheetah fails that test.

That leaves the Orange and Blue options; there the idea of separating the Project from others by colour, is a good one, so both those would be good.

I see the orange one, does not use a black outline, so fades more on some coloured backgrounds.

I like the actual Component icon (blue version), it's more symbolic and stylish for IDE. Cheetah icon seem to launch a simple application, not an complete IDE.

The only icon I like is already used for generated exe file from lazarus (default project). It's a nice black paw in a blue circle.

Attached the INC and LPR 256x256. Those are like the current icons, but are bigger for Win7.

I thought that a good icon for Lazarus would be most meaningful if it were just a BIG letter L, of course with a certain speciality.

This "Loctite" logo is somwhat what I mean:
