Making the pc speaker beep?

Is there any way of making the pc speaker beep using lazarus/fpc and linux?

SysUtils.Beep or Crt.Sound(Hz) ? Note that these may not be implemented as well, though I haven't tried myself.

Thanks, I tried, but none of the sound stuff seems to be implemented on linux.
I thought it might be a permissions problem but I can beep the speaker from a terminal ok so I guess not  :(
