I am not sure. He is an Ukrainian, maybe he was drafted for the war. Better not saying anything that we are unsure. Can anyone tell us what really happened?
Eugene Loza passed away this Monday, I'm afraid. I wrote a bit more details on the Vinculike Discord (one of his games), citing it below. It's incredibly sad. I loved him as a friend, and as part of Castle Game Engine. Now he's gone.> I'm afraid I have very sad news. Eugene passed away today. I have learned about it a few hours ago, after frantically trying to contact him, as he send a very worrying message to me earlier today. He took his own life -- I guess no point in hiding it, as he foreshadowed it in his own previous message on this channel. Shit. He committed suicide. It's hard to even write those words, explicitly, and it's incredibly sad and painful that this has really happened. It's the Real World and it sucked so much for a Real Person that it was not possible to bear it.> > I don't want to go into details how/why. He was living in Kyiv, Ukraine. As he said himself on https://decoherence.itch.io/vinculike , "You know what it means". Aside from being in danger, it meant being trapped in a country under active invasion for years now, and living under the worst stress one can imagine. OK, that's enough details. And obviously I don't really know too "why".> > I hesitated whether to post about it here, publicly, but I can see from the message above on this Discord, and from https://decoherence.itch.io/vinculike/devlog/784389/project-discontinued -- he wasn't shy about what's going to happen. I see concerned people on vinculike , it feels that you deserve to know. > > - I hope we've all brought some good things to his life.> > - I know he liked the community around this project. He liked doing this game.> > - I know he loved open-source, that's how we met. He really meant what he said when he emphasized above "Reminder that the game is free and open source". If anyone wants to step up and fork the project, go ahead.> > - He was the best person I know, kind to everyone.> > - And the best programmer.> > - And he loved cats.> > - I don't know how to end this message. I will miss him. I can't believe he did it. This is a horrible day.
