acer aspire one - no fonts on IDE toolbars
« on: October 03, 2008, 09:26:34 pm »
Lazarus installed and seems to work on the Acer Aspire One running Linpus Lite (a pared down version of Fedora) but it just shows blank squares instead of letters on the IDE toolbars. The Source Editor shows the proper letters for the code and the title bar, but not along the bottom of the window. It appears as if there is a system font missing. Does anyone know what font is used for the toolbars?

Fixed it!

After much messing about I downloaded three X11 font packages and now I can use Lazarus on the Aspire!

(It's the Mac next!)

Please, give the reference to these packages.
What exactly packages it is necessary to install?

I think the font packages were:-

xorg-x11-fonts-misc
xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-9-75dpi - 7.2.3.fc8-noarch
xorg-x11.fonts-75dpi - 7.2.3.fc8.noarch
terminus-font-x11 - 4.20-8.fc8.noarch

but what I really did was grab bunches of X11 fonts with the Package Manger until the IDE worked.

I have installed these packages, but text-labels in system-menus did not appear  :(

The New problem: message appears when compiling Lasarus project:
ld -lX11  - file not found
Really, in file /lib/ no file libX11.
Where its take?

Install the development package for X11, for the general answer see the FAQ.

Has same problem. Recompiled blindly under gtk2. Works just fine.

Yeah, in LCL interface gtk2 is second on the list, keep that in mind :)

Edit:
Segfaults a lot, though, will try latest snapshot and report back.
Edit2:
Checked out SVN revision 19054. Has not segfaulted back since.

I have Fedora 10, but if you don't have GTK2 on the Acer, you'll sure be able to install it.
