Best library for Firebird?
« on: August 16, 2007, 10:30:43 pm »
There are a number of database libraries for Firebird.
Which one supports Firebird 2 and which one has the best functionality?
Which one has data aware controls?
I read thru the documentation but could not find a comparison matrix
for all the database libraries for Firebird.
Can you use more than one database library if you need different functionality from different libraries?
Can you with any of these libraries programatically change a user's password?

Best library for Firebird?

Hi!
These days I experimented with different libraries and Firebird.
Zeos seems to be the best solution, but I couldn't figure out how to use Firebird with Lazarus/Zeos as EMBEDDED database. Although I put all dll's from the lib folder into my application folder, it doesn't work unless the Firebird server is installed on the target PC. Also, it seems that Zeos needs absolute path to the database (?!).
Does someone has experience how to use embedded Firebird with Lazarus/Zeos?

Regards,

Zlatko

embedded Firebird just need to rename fbembed.dll to fbclient.dll in your bin folder of your application.

I have my own library (derived from IBX) but for now i tested in Win32 only not in linux.
