Creating a Main Menu
« on: October 18, 2005, 09:03:15 am »
I can't get the menu designer to work.  I can drop the TMainMenu icon on the form and get one menu item, but no more.  The menu designer tool appears inert.  I can't get the row of menu headers (such as File, Edit, View, etc.) and I can't get the menuitems in drop down lists.

I am using version 0.9.10.

In the menu editor you see a button, representing the first menu item. Have you tried right-clicking on this button? A popup menu will appear giving you several choices.
I have to admit I had to do some experiments as well, before I found this. :)
What's in a sig? Would my posting look less if it didnot have a sig? (Free after William S.) :)

:( Why cannot I upload my own Avatar? :(

menu editor????  sorry - where is that?

I have the same problem as above but I still can't get right-clicking to do anything other than creating another MainMenu (which doesnt help) - I need to create a second menuItem.

Could you explain a little more please.

There are several ways, one way:
Click on the ... of MainMenu.Items in the object inspector.

Sorry Vincent, I didn't make that clear.  I initially posted that I couldn't work it out - went back and played some more and got it.  I edited my post with the top 'oooppps' part to say I eventually figured it out, but on reading it - I guess I didn't  make it clear.  I do thank for the reply tho.

After getting past the first part it all became very easy to make menu and submenus but the initial step is anything but intuitive.  The Wiki that documents menu must by based on an earlier (and different) version - it certainly didn't make sense to me.  If I knew how to create a wiki entry I would write a new version.

Thanks again

Editing a wiki page is not so difficult as creating a menu :-)

Create an account on the wiki by trying to log in. After that you can just press the Edit link in the 'menu' on the right. If you scroll down, you will see an edit box. Type your changes into it, do Show Preview and if you like the result, save the changes.
