Running Lazarus(Linux-Version) on Windows

Hi,
Currently i sit quite happy in front of a Linux-Lazarus running on my Windows 10!
In case you don't know:
Since the Aniversary update there is a Beta-Version of Bash(which has Ubuntu) as Subsystem running on Windows 10. Kernelcalls are redirected to windows. Similar to wine but the other way around AND worked on by Microsoft and Canoncial. The current Beta-Bash in the retail(not preview) runs Ubuntu 14(Preview already uses 16, included in upcoming Creators Update). So i have an older Lazarus installed. I'll try out the current 1.6.2 later.

While Microsoft does not support using GUI-Applications(main purpose is terminal), i got it working with this articel:

The idea behind is, that i don't have to switch to a VM for some basic Lazarus-Tasks.

What is your opinion?

Convergence of major operating systems is always a good thing, but note it is strictly x86_64 only!
The idea behind it is not new at all btw. See Windows POSIX efforts, which used to be delivered as standard with (some) Windows Server editions and is still available as a bolt-on extra called Interix.
 (some would also say that much of Windows is a multiple rip-off of UNIX idea's anyway)

Opinionated:
I foresee that is the end of IIS in the near future. Which is also a good thing.
Even more opinionated:
Linux is a better server OS for the web and - to some extend - more secure, but Windows has a superior user experience - for some reason

Ofcourse it is not new. But things don't need to be new, they need to be working and supported! ANd having something like this being a coproduction between two OS-Developers, i think this is as best as it can get(potential whise).

And compared to Windows Possix, the Windows Subsystem for Linux allows to put "any" Linux-Based OS on top of it. Ubuntu is what they aim for but it will be replaceable at a later time. If i understand it, Windows Posix required some changes to the Distributions or Apps to run on it, sometimes.

You are correct in assuming it is more or less an interface that mimics - or replicates - the kernel.
