[SOLVED]Icon generator program
« on: January 15, 2017, 06:08:40 pm »
Question - I was wondering what people are using to generate the program icon instead of using the default icon?  Back in the Delphi (1 or 2 and even up to 5) days, if I remember correctly, they had a basic icon generator program that came with Delphi.  For my needs, it worked fine and I used it as needed.  Now I don't know where to get such a program.  Searching the internet I get companies that want to sell icons or the programs they offer are overkill.  Any suggestions??

Thanks,  BZMan24

Try GreenFish Icon Editor Pro https://greenfishsoftware.blogspot.fr/2012/07/greenfish-icon-editor-pro.html. It is open source.
Windows - Lazarus 2.1/FPC 3.2 (built using fpcupdeluxe),
Linux Mint - Lazarus 2.1/FPC 3.2 (built using fpcupdeluxe)

Greenfish Icon Editor Pro is listed in Lazarus Application Gallery:

Alternatively you may use GIMP, which is open source too. Some may think GIMP is too overkill, but actually it is easier. Because you don't have to draw your own icon, you can simply open any image or photo, shrink it and export it to icon.

Alternatively you may use GIMP

On Mac, I use GIMP to create .ico for Windows and .png for Linux, then paste into Icon Composer to create the .icns file for OS X.

Examples of same image in 3 different file formats included here:

Thanks Handoko, I'll try Gimp and Greenfish Icon Editor Pro and see what I can do.
