Thanks to help from this forum, I've been able to get a simple "read temperatures from DS18B20 sensor chips" Lazarus program running. It uses the extensive support in the Delphi version of the SDK from Dallas/ Dalsemi/ Maxim... under Lazarus, quite happily... in Windows, anyway.

The Dallas 1-Wire chip family makes it really easy to distribute sensors and accuators across a small area, connected with simple "bell" wire.

Long a favorite with Arduino users and weather data recording enthusiasts.
