Field Definition error message

When using DataAware compoonents o a form, if I don't have the Database active, after selecting the DataSource for the component I then click "Data Field" I get an error message.

Is there some way turn off that error message. Currently I try to remember to manually enter the Data Field before the DataSource, but I keep forgetting.
