GMLib Google Maps Library
« on: January 11, 2016, 03:01:43 pm »
Has anybody looked at the possibility to use GMLib in Lazarus/fpc. This is a huge library made for accessing google maps from pascal by Cadetill. Its made for Delphi/C++, and as I understand "freeware". It should work with several Delphi editions from delphi 6 up to latest. It would been a great tool for lazarus programmers dedicated on using google maps, it is a probably also an idea to ask the maker of library .....

1)No one is going to start a new port if there is no interest from the original author to support such an effort so try to work out something with the author ask here when you have problems and I (at least) will try to help with the port.
2) LGPL is not freeware is ransomeware.

Use FPC trunk, we have one built-in already, along with other google api services.

Yes, use trunk.
I looked at the code and the level of abstraction is similar.
Although mostly machine generated, the fpc package is also way more complete, - all, or almost all , google api's are available.

Alternatively you might look at TMapViewer which can display maps from Google and few other sources:
