Lazarus on Linux: FPC source not detected
« on: October 19, 2006, 11:48:47 pm »
Upon installing Lazarus 0.9.18 from rpm on CentOS 4.4 (~RHEL 4.4) it complains the source for FPC 2.0.4 is missing, despite that source being installed from rpm prior to installing Lazarus. When installing the Lazarus rpm with --nodeps, and then manually setting the source directory for fpc in Environment, Lazarus works as expected. I have rebuilt Lazarus from the source rpm and the problem persists. Now synaptic and apt-get complain that I have a broken package on my system. What gives? Thank you.

If you have installed a rpm-package with a date (like fpc-src-2.0.4-yymmdd.i386.rpm) the packagemanager starts complaining. Only way I found to solve this, was removing this package and then install the package found on SourceForge.

It looks like the package manager is not smart enough. :)
What's in a sig? Would my posting look less if it didnot have a sig? (Free after William S.) :)

:( Why cannot I upload my own Avatar? :(

What I have installed is fpc-src-2.0.4-0.i386.rpm and that matches the fpc version I have. It's also the fpc src version on Sorceforge that is supposed to match lazarus-0.9.18-0.i386.rpm.

I have same problem.
I have downloaded RPMs of latest lazarus (0.9.20), FPC(2.0.4) and FPC-sources, and installed it. Just Lazarus don't want to install, because it can't find FPC sources. I had same problem on my notebook, where i'm using Aurox 11.1, and on my main PC, where i have just installed Mandriva 2007

I'm new linux user, so it may be some problem with me, but i think
