Fictional=imaginary
Only a construct as an example not a real editor

I don't want to make a new topic. But CudaText has reached the 1.219.0 version today.
Lot of improvements even in the last month.
Change log: link "History file" at the homepage https://cudatext.github.io/download.html

About far future dream.
I dream that in far future, Skia library bindings will be avail, so I can adapt CudaText to use it and improve rendering speed on Linux. Rendering speed is fast on Windows today, but not on Unixes due to slower ExtTextOut in gtk2/qt5/qt6.

Cool! And fine that you kept it with the same topic. Because the last couple comments from "TheWolf" seem to indicate that CudaText was imagined to be to a work of fiction.

That is a good dream!

Hello AlexTP,
Thank you for the wonderfull Cudatext,
Can I run the last release on Windows XP, I think that plugin system do not work well du to python incompatibilities.
So can you provide us a version compatible with windows XP.
Ah, another thing, I think also that It can not connect to internet (SSL problem i think).
So I'll be verry happy if you make effort to make a version compatible with WinXP

Thank you.

hi.
the CudaText must be compatiblle with WinXP.
Lazarus devs do a very good job. they allow LCL apps to run on WinXP.
CudaText is cross platform and rarely uses Win-specific features.

if you have some error on WinXP show the screenshot.
On WinXP, you must usee Python 3.4.
See topic "Python on Windows XP" in the CudaText wiki.

----
It cannot connect to inet? SSL error?
App don't use internet by Pascal code.
only Python plugins use inet.
Show the error screenshot. how to reproduce it?

Hello AlexTP.
Yes cudatext works on windows XP & I've downloaded python 3.4.4 & replaced all the python related staff from 3.8 to 3.4.
But the SSL when trying to connect to internet, gives error.
It would be better if you can make for each release, a package compatible to XP.
I think many people (developpers) use DOCIXPOR, windows XP.

Thanks.
PS : SMOTRITI screenshoot.

Thanks. screenshot is good.
I see the problem.
Problem is visible in the console-log (bottom panel). urllib3 library in the dir

py/sys/urllib3

is not compatible with Python 3.4.
you can downgrade it. replace it in that dir. old versions of urllib3 can be in internet. PyPI.org maybe.
