There is a bug in the forum. A few monthes ago we could delete our topics now we cannot anymore. I tried to see if it's the case on all the sub-boards, which is likely to be, after verification.
Sorry about the polution. The topics will disapear in a day or two...naturally pushed at the back of the stack by the posts generated by the natural human activity over there.

And now it's not possible anymore to delete the topic.
It used to be in the past. That's a problem because sometimes people are a bit impulsive, they start a topic and want to delete it later...anyway, now it's always here.

Not really.

As said, hotheads sometimes removed threads they originated but in which other side discussions appeared, thus killing content. That was never the idea of removing threads, so the option was disabled.

NOTICE:

I merged the 2 identical topics from 2 boards. So if in post has duplicate info, this is because it may have been from originally 2 threads

As for the topic itself:

The forum software has 2 settings:
- allow users to delete their own posts (this is allowed)
- allow users to delete their own threads (this is not allowed)

Apparently the latter means, that you can also not delete your post, if that post is the first in a thread. (even if there are no replies). So that can not be changed. its what the forum software allows.

"Allow to delete own thread" will stay disabled. Because it allows any one to delete replies made by others in that thread. However: Deleting other peoples post is something reserved to moderators.

In the past the delete-thread was allowed. This was never intentional. So when (after it was abused) we realized the situation it was disabled.

---
If anyone needs their topic deleted (and it has no replies by others yet), then simply:
- lock the topic (so no replies will be added by any one)
- report your own topic.
