Object Pascal documentation
« on: June 29, 2015, 07:09:08 pm »
I have bought a book few weeks ago, it's titled "Pascal" and written in the 1995. It deals about standard Pascal. I am interested in game development so, object oriented programming could improve the efficiency of my code.
Could a Dephi book be OK? Thank you :)

Why not start with a free book about Free Pascal in pdf format?

Yes, delphi books are fine. The only thing you have to look out for is that it isn't a version for Delphi <XXX> that only treats what language features are NEW in that version.

The FPC documentation is fine as reference, but it is not really written as a tutorial.

The free books by ahum, Marco Cantu are still fine for both Delphi and FPC.
I don't see the need. The man has merits.
Once upon a time a lot of Delphi books were published there wasn't anything compatible for FPC. By now these - tired old - books merely need an addendum for components in Lazarus.

I think back then I learned most from  Delphi manuals. D6's object pascal guide.
