Under force of 'The Sword of Damocles'  are you prepared to state that if I write and compile my 'shitware' under XFCE, presumably as instantiated under Mint then the result will work under 'all' Linux Distributions

If you compile using GTK+ then your software will work on any serious Linux distro with the proper GTK libraries installed.

My advice: do more (finding things out), talk less.
