One the best two-pane (orthodox) file managers, Double Commander [http://doublecmd.sourceforge.net], is written in FreePascal.
This is an appeal to the FreePascal/Lazarus community to support its development.
Not only is Double Commander free, open source and cross-platform, but IMHO it is also the best file manager around. It's highly configurable (more than any other file manager I have tried, and I have tested them all, one by one) and rich in features.
In short, Double Commander is a jewel of FreePascal programming, a showcase piece, and really deserves to be supported and promoted.
Unfortunately, the developer is working on it mostly alone, so the pace of development is very slow. On their forum you see dozens of posts requesting this or that feature, but only very few features actually get to be implemented, because of lack of human resources (read: lack of developers). Also, many of the reported bugs have yet to be fixed, for the same reason.
Now, the point of this post is: PLEASE support this fantastic project by contributing to it, either as developers, or beta testers, or even as mere users.
Use the program, spread the word.
Your help may make a drastic difference in the development of Double Commander.
Disclaimer: I am not the developer, nor am I in any way linked to him.
Thanks
