Bug or change: Unicode Password Char #8226 fails with FPC 2.7.1

With FPC 2.6.x everthing works fine and it results in a password dot, but in 2.7.1 I see a ? as password char, is this a bug or was something changed? This happens in all Edit and Memo fields.

I fixed it chaning Passwordchar from char to widechar. It works but is a rude fix.
