TListView - Changing the background causes artifacting

Hello everyone,

I have been experimenting to get TListView to draw a background and a way to eliminate the drawing artifacts (putting the background image behind every list item) by using invalidate. It works when the app is not maximized, but when the app is maximized on Windows it causes some artifacting to occur as well.

I have two questions: how do I prevent this new artifacting (am I using invalidate wrong??) and secondly how should I improve my code so that it seems a bit more professional?
